Today, we join to increase the awareness about Chagas disease and it’s consequences.
Chagas Disease, a neglected tropical disease caused by the Trypanosoma cruzi parasite and is primarily transmitted through the bite of infected triatomine bugs, also known as “kissing bugs.
The disease, often referred as a silent killer, can also be spread via contaminated food or drink, blood transfusions, organ transplants, and from mother to child during pregnancy.
Chagas disease has been known to cause life threatening cardiac and digestive system damage if not treated early.
World Chagas Disease Day 2025 is a call to action to unite against this silent epidemic. Through increased awareness, advocacy for access to care, and a commitment to research and policy change, we can make strides in eliminating Chagas disease and improving health outcomes for affected populations globally.
Stay safe, stay aware
